The Benefit

One of the best ways to develop a child’s natural motor skills, balance, and coordination.

Requires natural skills:

  • Running
  • Jumping
  • Catching
  • Throwing
  • Balance

Relatively easy to experience success, through individual play.

Most importantly, the games make it very easy for everyone to feel good and have fun.

The key principles of sports and games

Learning through games: Use the game to develop a child’s motor skills, coordination, balance and ability to work in teams. The game experience should be placed above results or scores.

Safety and fun: Provide a safe environment where children are encouraged to learn the game, make friends and have fun. The purpose of matches should be to allow children to test their skills but fair play should be valued above results. There is no scorekeeping as it is not important who wins or loses.  Scoring is added with the older age groups.

Motivate children: Most likely this is a child’s first encounter with sport. It’s important for parents and coaches to create a positive sports environment where children can make friends and have fun. The objective is to teach children to love physical activity and motivate them to continue this sport as they grow up.
